Description

The Prunus genus is a large family of mostly flowering small trees and shrubs.

This example of raw material will be of garden origin and we do not know which species it is. Many of the Prunus species are commonly found in UK gardens which generally means that they are easy to grow. The typical growth habit also tends to make them good bonsai subjects ie. growing well and responding well to pruning. Like you often find with garden collected trees the structure is a bit unconventional with the trunk arrangement and root structure. The bonsai needs a lot more branching created to make a convincing trees type of image. This tree has not yet flowered whilst with us but might well in the future with more twig growth. It is 33cm. in height with a spread of 30cm.Trunk diam. is about 4cm. at soil level and surface roots measure 10cm. across at the widest. The pot is a bonsai plastic Mica oval 29x20x8cm.
