As this Forsythia originated either from garden of nursery material it is likely to be one of the many hybrid varieties of the species.
Forsythia is a very common shrub in our gardens and one of it’s main attractions are the vibrant, early season, flowers. The enthusiast responsible for this bonsai decided to create a version of the root-over-rock style. The shaping of most flowering species of bonsai results in a compromise between a convincing ramified branch structure and branches that provide the best platform for the flowering, this tree certainly achieves a bit of both.
The bonsai has a height of 45cm. with a branch spread of 49cm. Across the base the trunk measures 5cm. in diam. It is potted in a Chinese ceramic pot that is 32x23x8cm. Having a bonsai that provides some early season vibrant colour will be valuable in any collection.
