This is a Common hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) that has been created from ordinary nursery produced material.
It will be a modest sized bonsai with the height at 34cm. and branch spread of 20cm. It features a trunk, 2.5cm. across at base, and surface roots in good proportion to the existing branch structure. Development of secondary branching and ramification is the course of action to improve this native species as a bonsai.
Clear to see in the photo, the leaves are just emerging. It is planted in a rectangular plastic training pot 25x18x7cm. A good project with a species that really lends itself to bonsai and is easy to grow and develop.
