Last Saturday Willowbog Bonsai hosted the final Bonsai Chat of 2019. Not our final event because we stage another couple of workshops over the next two weekends.

There was a pretty good turn out for this last community day of the year.

Many familiar faces as well as some of the newer folk that have joined us in the last twelve months or so.

We were graced with the presence of this lovely Cedar, now in the ownership of Ian B.  who very fortuitously brought it along for the day.

I say fortuitously because also joining us for the day was the original Willowbogger Mr. Len G. who created this bonsai from garden centre material a few years back.

I was so pleased to be able get this photo of the man himself reunited with his tree. Len is famous for claiming that he had Willowbog running through his veins !  We owe Len quite a debt for so many things he did in the early days for this business.

There was the usual mix of folk working on their trees and folks just ” Chatting ”

We have made some fairly significant changes to this tree since I brought it from Spain a couple of years back.

The G-man also busy wiring a Scots pine, this is the tree that he did with Ryan Neil on one of his visits to the nursery a few years back.

We see Angela every month but usually at the workshops, Saturday was her first chance to attend a Chat and she used it to talk to me about her newly acquired Quercus robus group planting.  Young Scott listening in.

Caz and Diane talking about something, not necessarily bonsai related.

None of the day’s photos really give an idea of the numbers, at various times folk will be out round the nursery checking out either trees or pots.

This photo shows six minutes to closing time, do these folk not have homes to got to ?  !!   Actually we have never yet hinted that it is time to go !  It’s a pity we have no pictures of the day’s food as there was a real festive feel to what we on offer. As well as Jean’s famous soup there were some delicious sausage rolls made and provided by Diane [ I only manged one as Malcolm had more than his fair share !! ]  cheese rolls and a range of Christmas sweet confectionery. So we complete another year’s twelve Bonsai Chats . All starts again in January, why not come along and join us ?
