July and August Bonsai Chats are often the least well supported of the whole year so it was no surprise to see a modest turn out for the July chat yesterday here at Willowbog Bonsai.

Nice enough weather for an al fresco lunchtime snack though and it was nice to see a couple of new faces around the table.

Paul preferring the solitude of the studio to mull over all things bonsai, he also didn’t seem to mind the heat in there, even keeping his hat on !

Two bonsai ladies also happy with the studio temperature as they pressed on with some summer pruning.

Antony also with some deciduous pruning to do but preferring the relative cool of outdoors.

David C properly attired for the Bermuda like weather only popped in briefly for some bonsai feed.

Last weekend we acquired more than 50 new hand-made pots from Walsall Studio Ceramics following David Jones’ visit to conduct the pottery workshop.

Antony was trying to choose a new pot for a European beech that he purchased last year from a highly reputable bonsai supplier not a million miles from this location.

We discuss his options given that the re-pot will not be carried out until well into next year.

My grateful thanks, as ever, to the man behind the camera, Peter G.  without whose contribution there would be no record of the day as I completely forgot to take any photos myself, no change there then !
