On a recent visit to family in Kent we returned with a Buff Sussex cockerel. He needed some company so we sourced fairly locally four point of lay hybrid hens.
We named the cockerel Clarence [ he just looked like a Clarence ! ] Although the four hens are hybrids they do have ‘ breed ‘ names, next to the boy is a Blue haze and behind her is a Copper black.
Nearest the hen house is the rather nicely marked Speckledy and the white hen is a Light sussex.
Just the small matter of keeping the fox away from them, and the Stoats, and the Weasels !!!! With a bit of luck we should get our first eggs in about a months time.
