This is the workshop tokonoma display that we created for yesterday’s workshop here at Willowbog Bonsai.
A real tree in the main section and a tree sculpture in the side alcove.
European beech, Fagus sylvatica, that we purchased on a visit to Madrid last year.
The tree belongs to Willowbogger Antony R and it is growing remarkably well. We have had a lot of experience with this species here, indeed, there are four examples in The Willowbog Collection that we collected ourselves back in the late nineteen eighties and nineties, but I don’t think that I have seen an example exhibit such a strong second flush of growth as this Spanish origin tree shows here.
The accent featured a couple of items from The Proprietor’s ceramic collection.
