Carving Workshop with Peter Snart

Peter Snart, the proprietor of Willowbog Bonsai, is very experienced with the use of deadwood in Bonsai design, using a variety of techniques and tools on a variety of material to create fabulous effects.

One Sunday in October saw Peter take participants through a fascinating day workshop on the use of deadwood in Bonsai design, where it is appropriate and where not, the instances where one sort of carving would be best rather than another, inculding hollow carving versus splitting techniques. Various tools and techniques were demonstrated and discussed with workshop participants having the opportunity to discuss their own material and work on deadwood under the guidance of Peter. The workshop was enjoyed by everyone who took part - each participant left with more confidence in how to create and work with deadwood in their Bonsai and a better understanding of how and why carving should be used.
